प्रियव्रत वही है जिसको प्रियाणि वृतांशि तस्यः सः प्रियव्रत।। जिसको अपना किया हुआ व्रत ही प्रिय है। मतलब अपना किया हुआ संकल्प ही प्रिय है। व्रत का मतलब होता है संकल्प।
जैसे आप अपनी मैरिज एनिवर्सरी मना लेते हो और उस दिन याद कर लेते हो कि हाँ हमारा संकल्प यही है कि ये हमारी पत्नी हैं। ऐसे ही एकादशी का मतलब यही होता है कि आप व्रत करो। मतलब
उस दिन संकल्प फिर से दोहरा लो, याद कर लो कि तुम दुनिया के नहीं हो, तुम इन एकादश इंद्रियों के नहीं हो, तुम दुनिया के संबंध के नहीं हो; तुम्हारा असली संबंध है तो केवल राधारमण से है।
व्रत का मतलब है गंभीर संबंध। संकल्प मतलब हाँ हम ठाकुरजी के ही हैं। इसलिए व्रत रखेंगे। छोड़ने का रियाज।

‘Priyavrat’ is one, “Priyanni vrittanshi tasyaha: saha: Priyavrat”|| The one who loves his own vrata or vow. In other words, he remembers the promise made by him. Vrata means Sankalpa or promise or vow.
Like you celebrate your marriage anniversary and remember that I have taken a vow that she is my wife. Similarly, Ekadashi implies that you fast. Meaning;
Repeat your vow once again that you are not of this world, you are not entrapped within these eleven sense organs, you are not limited by the relations of the world, your real and true relationship is with Shree Radha Raman!
Vrata means that intrinsic or real connection. Sankalpa or the vow that I am of Shree Thakurji only. That is why I shall fast! It is the practice of leaving or giving up!
