अपना जीवन मार्जित कीजिये। जल से शरीर को स्वच्छ कीजिए। ये वाह्य शरीर को पवित्र करना और किसी भी प्रकार के छल और कपट से निवृत्त होकर अपने अंतस को स्वच्छ कीजिए। धर्मानुष्ठान,तितिक्षा,तप,मौन स्वाध्याय,ब्रह्मचर्य,अहिंसा,समत्व,निर्द्वन्द्वता इन सबका अभ्यास करके अपने आप का परिमार्जन कीजिए। ये कमजोरी नहीं है।

कोई कहे- ये चुप हो गया है,कमजोर हो गया है नहीं ये मार्जन का विषय है।मौन रहना सफाई है, स्वाध्याय करना सफाई है। किसी चीज को गन्दा करना कितना आसान होता है,किसी चीज को साफ रखना बड़ा कठिन होता है।

गन्दा रखा नहीं जाता,गन्दा अपने आप हो जाती है। आप एक गिलास कहीं रख दीजिये, कल देखना गन्दा मिलेगा,परसों और गन्दा मिलेगा पन्द्रह दिन बाद इतना गन्दा मिलेगा कि तुम्हें साफ करने का भी मन न हो। परन्तु अगर किसी चीज को स्वच्छ रखना हो तो सबसे पहले उसका परिमार्जन किया। उसको व्यवस्थित स्थान पर रखा पर फिर भी उसे बारबार परिमार्जित करना पड़ता है।

मार्जन की प्रक्रिया बड़ी विचित्र है।

We should try to cleanse and refine our lives. Water cleanses the body. Having a bath is cleansing the physical body and eradication of treachery is cleansing the mind. Performing religious ceremonies, patience, tapas, Maun, austerity, celibacy, non violence, equanimity, absence of strife, they cleanse the mind ! These are not signs of weakness in anyway.

If someone says that he has become very quiet, it is not a weakness, it is cleansing. Practicing Maun or spiritual austerity is cleansing. It is very easy to dirty anything but to maintain cleanliness is very difficult.

It is not dirty, it becomes dirty. If you leave a glass somewhere, next morning you will find dust on it, the day after it will be dirtier and as time progresses, it becomes more and more dirty. Eventually, it will be such that one doesn’t feel like touching it. However, if we want to keep anything clean, it will have to be cleaned regularly. In spite of keeping it in a secure place, regular cleaning is a must.

Therefore the cleansing process is very intriguing!
