समाज से ज़्यादा खतरनाक और कोई नहीं होता है। समाज की हवा भीड़ की हवा जो है वो बड़ी खतरनाक होती है किस तरफ चल दे पता नहीं। भेड़चाल है। ऐसी भेड़चाल है कि अपूज्य को पूज्य बना दे और पूज्यों का व्यतिक्रम कर दे। पूज्यों को नष्ट कर दे और अपूज्यों को सम्राट बना दे। जहाँ से उसका स्वार्थ सिद्ध हो वो वाे कृत्य करती है।
इसलिए यश और अपयश से बच कर रहना चाहिए। जो लोग आज यश दे रहे हैं वो ही कल अपयश दे सकते हैं और जितना यश दे रहे उतना ही अपयश हो सकता है।

श्री पुण्डरीक जी सूत्र (३०-०५-२०२३) संस्कृत
समाजात् अधिकं भयङ्करः कोऽपि नास्ति। समाजस्य वायुः, जनसमूहस्य वायुः, अतीव भयङ्करः अस्ति, न जानन्ति यत् सः कस्याः दिशि गन्तुं शक्नोति। मेषत्वम् अस्ति। तत्र तादृशं मेषत्वं यत् अपूज्यं पूजनीयं करोति, पूजितस्य च दुष्कृतं करोति। पूज्यान् नाश्य अपूज्यान् सम्राटान् कुरु | यतः तस्याः स्वार्थः सिद्धः भवति, सा तत् कर्म करोति।
अत एव यशः बदनामी च दूरं तिष्ठेत्। अद्य ये यशः ददति ते श्वः एव अप्रियं दातुं शक्नुवन्ति तथा च यथा यथा अधिकं यशः ददति तथा तथा अधिकं असफलतां जनयितुं शक्नुवन्ति।

No one is more dangerous than the society. The mass hysteria associated with a gathering or a huge crowd which is also known as public frenzy is very unpredictable. It is like the herd of sheep! It is so powerful that its forceful current can install an unworthy person as a very respectable one and vice-versa! The revered could be destroyed whereas, the undeserving made the king. Wherever, in whatever their selfish motive is fulfilled, they will do that!
That is why, please be aware of praise and disgrace. The ones who are out to praise you today will turn around to disgrace you no end tomorrow. Today, they might seat you on a pedestal and the very next moment they may push you in the dumps!
