अहमता ममता और समता, इन तीन शब्दों का ही द्वंद है दुनिया में। अहमता होती है तो ममता नहीं हो पाती, जहाँ ममता होती है वहाँ समता नहीं हो सकती।
ममता तो एक से ही होगी। अगर कोई माँ देख रही है कि उसके बालक के ऊपर कोई चींटी चढ़ रही है तो उसके ममत्व पर उसका समत्व को जागने नहीं देगा। वह तुरंत चींटी को हटा देगी। नहीं कह सकती कि सब समान ही तो है
बुद्धि का विकार अहमता है और मन का विकार ममता है और आत्मा का बोधी विशुद्ध समता है।

The entire conflict in this world revolves around three words: ego i.e. Ahamta, attachment or Mamta and equanimity or Samta. When ego exists, attachment is not there and when there is attachment, equanimity cannot exist.
Attachment is always directed toward one specific person. For example, if a mother sees an ant crawling on her child, her affection towards the child will not allow a sense of equanimity to arise at that moment. She will instinctively remove the ant, she will not let it go saying it doesn’t matter!
Ego is a distortion of the intellect, attachment is a distortion of the mind, and true equanimity is the pure awareness of the soul.
